It's no surprise that acai bowls are so popular in Singapore because they're one of the most delicious superfoods.

Introduction

The Acai fruit has been a hot topic for the past decade, according to Google Trends. It is best known for being the not-so-secret ingredient in picture perfect smoothie bowls, but these berries are more than simply pretty. A guilt-free sweet treat loaded with fruits and protein. convenience. It gained popularity in 2010. I decided to use Google Trends to do some research on acai because I was curious when Singaporeans first began interested in it.

Data Visualisation

Through Google trend, I began by looking at data from 2001 to 2021 to see how many acai stores had opened in Singapore. Starting with a google trend analysis of how many people search for the word 'acai,' and concluding how many acai outlets have opened in Singapore.

Findings

I started off by collecting the data from Google Trend and did the first graph on DataWrapper. I realised that during 2001-2006, acai was not even popular. No one even search for the word 'acai'.

Through my google trend, I divided into 3 parts, search bar, related topics/queries and acai outlet. I realised that there was an increase of ‘related topics/queries’ over the years. People started to research on acai, for example, what is acai, acai's health benefit, weight loss and so on.

Insights

The Acai fruit has been a hot topic for the past decade, according to Google Trends. It gained popularity in 2012. Through the graph, I decided to see how many acai stores had opened in Singapore.

I decided to make a map and see how many outlets launched in Singapore, and I discovered that the majority of the stalls are opening in the central business district, making it more convenient for Singaporeans to satisfy their acai craving. It has been popular in Singapore, which opened its first acai store in 2015. This is due to an increased interest in a nutritious diet, weight loss, and health cleansing.

Conclusion

In Singapore, acai bowls are a cold and refreshing way to beat the heat. Acai can be eaten as a quick, invigorating, and nutritious supper, dessert, or snack without worrying about calories. Because acai berries are high in antioxidants that may lessen the risk of cancer, it's no wonder that majority of the Singaporeans are interested in them, given our health-conscious nature.
